Veg Momos Recipe with an easy folding method. Momos are steamed dumplings popular as a street food in many parts of India. Momos are also known as Dim Sum.
This video shows the making of momos from scratch. These are dim sum stuffed with a mix vegetable stuffing. You can serve them with a spicy sauce like schezwan sauce, sriracha sauce or a spicy garlic chilli sauce.
Momos can be steamed in a pan, stove-top pressure cooker or an Instant Pot.
To steam momos or dim sum in a pressure cooker:
- Keep a trivet stand inside the cooker. Add 2 cups water and heat it.
- Place the dim sum in a pan inside the cooker.
- Remove the vent weight/whistle and steam the dim sum for 5 to 6 minutes. If not still underdone, then steam for a few more minutes. The water should not come in contact with the dim sum.
To steam dim sum in an idli pan:
- Proceed same way, you make the idli. Heat 2 cups water in the pan.
- Grease the idli mould with oil.
- Place the dim sum on the idli moulds.
- Then place the moulds in the pan and steam the dim sum for 5 to 6 minutes.
INGREDIENTS:
For the dough:
1 cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon oil
¼ teaspoon salt or as required
2 to 3 tablespoon water for kneading or as required
For the Vegetable Stuffing:
½ cup chopped cabbage
½ cup chopped carrots
⅓ cup chopped french beans
¼ cup chopped capsicum
2 small-sized spring onions - finely chopped, keep the greens to be added later
3 to 4 small garlic - finely chopped
1 teaspoon soy sauce
½ teaspoon black pepper powder or as required
1 tablespoon oil
salt as required
