#spicystirfriedsquid#ojingeobokkum#오징어볶음 HOW TO MAKE OJINGEO BOKKEUM (SPICY STIR-FRIED SQUID) Today I want to share Oingeo bokkeum which is a spicy stir-fried squid dish in Korea. This spicy dish is highly common and popular at home and restaurants in Korea. If you love squid with spicy flavor, you may try this dish. It is incredibly easy to make with a few staple Korean ingredients. Enjoy the recipe! Ingredients : 1 big size of squid (cut into bite size pieces (about 2″ x ½”) ) 1/4 medium carrot (batonnet sliced) 2 small onions (chopped) 2 green chili (chopped) 1 bird's eye chili (chopped) 1/4 medium cabbage (chopped into cubes) 5 garlic cloves (sliced) 1/2 spring onion (bias chopped) 1/2 spring onion (cut into 2 inch long, thirds cut) Sauce : 2 tablespoons Korean chili pepper flakes (gochugaru) 1 tablespoon Korean chili pepper paste (gochujang) 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon oyster sauce 2 tablespoons cooking wine (optional) 2 tablespoons sugar 1-1/2 tablespoons corn syrup (or 1-2 more teaspoons sugar) 1/2 tablespoon cooking oil 1/2 tablespoon corn starch (any starch is fine) 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper Recipe: 1. Clean the squid. Cut the body into 1/2-inch wide and 2-inch long bite size pieces. (Slit the body open and flatten and lightly score the inside in a small diamond pattern- But this is optional) 2. Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a bowl. 3. Mix the squid with the seasoning mix and marinate just for a few minutes. 4. Heat up the pan over high heat and put 2 tablespoons cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. 5. Stir-fry quickly the cabbage, onion, carrot, chilis just until they start to wilt within 2 minutes, then add the 2 inch long cut spring onion and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce and stir-fry quickly. 6. Transfer all vegetables to a plate. 7. Put 2 tablespoons cooking oil to the pan over high heat, put garlic and bias chopped spring onion to the pan and stir-fry for 2 minutes. 8. Add the marinated squid and stir-fry just until the squid curls up and turn opaque within 2 minutes. 9. Put the stir-fried vegetables together in the pan and mix well for 1 minute. (DO NOT overcook the squid. The squid will get tough) 10.Turn off heat and drizzle over the sesame oil. Enjoy this exquisite and delectable dish. Happy Cooking!!!
