Today lets see How to make an Ancient Arabic Date Filled Cookies.
Ingredients for Maamoul
Semolina - 3 cups
Butter - 1/2 cup
Oil - 1/4 cup
Milk - 1/2 cup
All-purpose flour - 1 1/2 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Cardamom powder - 1 Tsp
Baking Powder - 1 Tsp
Salt
Vanilla Essence
Yeast - 1 tsp + Sugar - 1 tsp + Milk (warm)- 1/4 cup
Method
1. Mix in semolina, melted butter, oil and all purpose flour mix and cover and rest it overnight.
2. Next day mix in All-purpose flour, powdered sugar, baking powder, cardamom powder and salt.
3. Add in milk, Vanilla, Yeast mixture and mix and rest for again 1 hour.
4. Make dates filling with deseeded dates, powdered pistachio and ghee. Make Balls.
5. Make pistachio filling with powdered pistachio, sugar and water and make balls.
6. After 1 hour, make balls with semolina mixture add a dates balls inside and cover and press it in maamoul mould.
7. Bake it in the 230-degree preheated oven for 10 - 15 minutes.
8. Sprinkle some powdered sugar.
