كندا لن تستقبل اللاجئين القادمين عبر الحدود الكندية الامريكية و ستعيدهم الى أمريكا بوجب اتفاقية الدولة الثالثة الآمنة المبرمة بين أوتاوا و واشنطن باستثناء من تنطبق عليهم شروط اللجوء عن طريق الحدود الكندية الامريكية، الا أن هذه الاستثناءات لا تبدو كافية بالنسبة للعديد من المنظمات الحقوقية التي تطالب الحكومة الكندية بإلغاء تصنيفها للولايات المتحدة كدولة أمنة للاجئين على ضوء ان العديد من الأشخاص الذين تمت اعادتهم الى أمريكا بموجب الاتفاقية مازالوا يعانون من انتهاكات جسيمة لحقوقهم بعد احتجازهم هناك. - Federal Court of Appeal decision ruling comes as a disappointment for those calling against the safe third country agreement between Canada and the United States. Advocates are calling on the Canadian government to cancel its classification of the United States as a safe country for refugees as many people who are sent back to America under the agreement continue to suffer from serious violations of their rights after detention.
