@flymypg3 years ago Naomi is a great friend to creality. A great friend will not only praise your strengths, but also help with your weaknesses. This is a service not only some questions:
what is the gantry geometry? H-bot? Corexy? The main issue with this kind of gantry is the total belt length, which limits acceleration and jerk values, but is otherwise excellent.
what controller chip is used? I' d be very disappointed if it were an 8-bit controller. 32-bit chips cost the same and can do far more, especially using marlin2.
it does use marlin2, right? With all safety features enabled?
what kind of bed heater is used? Dc-powered pcb, or ac-powered silicone? These days, i see no reason not to use an ac-powered silicone bed heater, especially as bed size grows. I not only like the thermal power available in a silicone bed heater, but it also lets a much smaller dc power supply to be used, which is a win for everyone.
what kind of hot-end is used? If it' s not a volcano, then you may have problems with higher temperature filaments. A volcano is the only way i' ve been able to get fast and consistent prints using nylon filament. A volcano hot-end also helps with printingpla, where the longer melt zone lets steam go out the top, rather than hissing and spitting at the nozzle.
minor typo: the creality page linked in the video description mentions aextruder. Which my mind read as a blending ofand
about stringing: this can also be caused by poor part cooling. Could that be the case here?
about the bowden: again, at this price point, and given the printerlimitations, a lightweight geared direct-drive really makes more sense.
about the enclosure: this kind of enclosure is for noise and (maybe) fume control, not for a heated build chamber. The problem here is that the stepper motors are inside the enclosure, where they would be heated along with the interior. Depending on the belt material, belts can also do poorly in heated enclosures. So don' t try that with this printer!
such a strong and overbuilt enclosure gets me thinking about tool-changer upgrades. Does creality have plans in this area? I' ve been having fun using my printer as a pen plotter and engraver by crudely attaching pens and laser modules, and i' d like to see a manufacturer make that easier in the mid-range (gt; 1k) printer market.
i really like the textured ceramic-coated tempered glass bed. On my sidewinder x1 v4, a single assisted manual leveling (with the bed hot! Takes a few minutes and lasts for months (i also repeat it whenever i change nozzles) always remember that automatic bed leveling warps your prints to account for the bed distortion. If bed leveling truly is an issue and you need precise prints, i always recommend using a raft rather than auto-leveling. In other words, good printers shouldn' t need auto-leveling. I view the sensor as either pure marketing (with no functional need) or away of avoiding the need to do better engineering and manufacturing. Which should not be an issue on a printer priced at $1250.
thanks for the links to kiri: moto and grid space! I had been unaware of them until this video. Slicers are a barrier to entry for many beginners (including my own nephew) and otherslicers are just terrible. I will try kiri-moto on my next prints, and it will hopefully earn a place in every beginner' s 3d printing tool set, right next to tinkercad. I already see my printers (mpmd, sidewinder x1) aren' t listed, so i will have some work to do getting it setup.
i completely agree about tools that run locally and use the browser for display. Browsers are the right tool to use for a modern user interface for many reasons, so much so that i see no need to use anything else unless you have to optimize for specific hardware platform capabilities, such as for high-fps games on pcs and consoles. I use the jupyterlab environment for my data science work (which doesn' t run in the browser, but does use the browser for display) and the browser ui makes everythingcode, plots, etc. Work better together.
    thanks again, naomi!

@byoung14032 years ago Great demonstration naomi. I don' t have a dedicated work shop that iscontrolled. I need a printer suitable for a dusty garage that varies widely in temperature based on the season. I think i need an enclosed printer not for safety, but for dust, temperature control, and filtering of exhausted air (and i do not want to deal with a home built enclosure) i would like testing to evaluate: freezing garage; hot humid garage; sound level in db 1 meter from unit; and subjective comments on smell. ...Expand
